TOP SET OF COMING
2-YEAR-OLD BULLS FOR SALE!

A good number of these bulls are ET calves out of our top donor cows.

Overall, this is the most genetically dominant performance bulls in all phases of the beef industry.  All sale bulls are DNA gene tested for marbling, tenderness, backfat, yield grade, ribeye area, and carcass weight.  This is the most uniform set of sale bulls that we have produced to date.  They are sired by seven of our proven herd sires.

They are identical in their conformation -- it is difficult to distinguish one bull from another.  Calves by these long, deep, thick-bodied bulls will also look alike, perform the same and cut out at premium values.  We also have a choice set of bred heifers, open heifers & Select Embryos!

Gould Ranch

Closing the loop

Back in the 1870s, Guy Gould’s great-grandparents left behind their farm on Colorado’s eastern plains and trailed their cattle to the open range of South Dakota.

They traced a path along Badger Creek, a meandering stream that cuts northward toward the Platte River, and bivouacked at a place called Frost Camp.

The cool waters there slaked the thirst of their livestock and family, and provided a welcome respite from the dusty trail.

They stayed there for just one night – the prairie was a dangerous place to dally for too long -- then bundled up their provisions and continued on their journey.

Five years ago, Guy Gould came to Badger Creek for the first time when he bought the ranch where Frost Camp lies. His new home rests on the flat basin where his grandparents had rested for the night.

“It’s good to think that they were right here, at this place, a century ago,” Gould reflects. “It’s like we’ve come full circle.”

The Gould family has not only has staked its future on Colorado's eastern plains, but also on a little-known breed of cattle known as Irish Blacks and Reds.

"These cattle have the ability to change this business for the better for good," says Guy.

Heifer calf
sired by I B 12, Polled Irish Perfect Balance
BD: 04-30-2003

Came off of grass on Oct. 15, 2003. At 205 days she weaned at 64.4% of her dams weight. In the first 20 years in our program, the dam had to wean off a calf at 205 days that weighed 60% of her body weight or she went to slaughter. On March 6, 2004 the heifer weighed 905 pounds, which expresses the early maturity genetic trait that our concentrated blood transmits. This heifer has been DNA gene tested and is carrying the highest marbling and tenderness scores.

Irish Reds

Our Irish Reds are identical to our Irish Blacks® in their genetic make-up. One of the first purebred bulls used thirty four years ago in setting up our closed-herd line breeding program carried the red recessive color gene. We now have two of our top herd sires that carry this red recessive gene.

The Irish Reds
cattle carry the same genetic dominance in performance, marbling and cut-out value as do our Irish Blacks®
cattle. Both gene pools are very small and highly concentrated which guarantees high consistency in transmitting these essential genetic traits. Commercial red herds can now get the advantage of our dominant genetics without having to change their color.

Polled Irish Red Perfection 2110 NPM 10436
One of the first foundation sires from Ireland carried the red recessive gene. We have flushed a few of our top Red purebred females to "Red Perfection 2110" to establish the foundation for our Irish Reds
. The red color gene is the only difference in the genetics of our Irish Reds and our Irish Blacks ®. They are identical in the same closed herd line breeding program that we have followed since 1971. Red Perfection 2110 is sired by Polled Irish Perfection Falko 717 NPM 10123.

Note the level back and deep thick rear quarters o the calf. This genetic trait is consistent in all of the Irish Reds
and Irish Blacks® cattle. The Reds are identical to the Blacks in their genetic makeup. One of the first foundation bulls used in the start of the breeding program carried the red recessive color gene.
